Richard Button is a contemporary artist, living and working in London.
Richard's work is largely inspired by the sea. He paints intuitively. Other than the first few strokes, he allows the painting to lead him as it develops rather than dictating its progression. Each canvas, therefore, is an adventure ... an experiment into imagination, colour and style resulting in a piece of work that is truly unique.
THE BITTER END
£2,500.00
This works reflects the demise of traditional fishing methods in Cornwall. The boat is a crumbling, deserted wreck whilst also is representative of a decaying fish. The red protective paint at the front of the boat is the fish’s lifeblood, seeping into the sand forming a shape reminiscent of an anchor. The last length of an anchor’s line is called ‘the Bitter End’.
